First graders have been studying the phases of the moon in their science unit. While in the library, students read a fiction and nonfiction book about the moon and then created ChatterKid projects to share their new knowledge. Students use the app to give the moon a mouth and make it talk. So engaging and the projects turned out great!

Third and fourth grade students participated in some problem solving challenges that connected to some books we were reading. The challenge was to build a Lego maze in under five minutes and then have other students try out the maze with a marble. Students could only use a specific number of Legos to complete the maze but could be as creative as they wanted. Some students even included things like trap doors, hidden exits, and moving parts.
Students got to participate in virtual field trips last week!
We traveled around the world using the app called Google Expeditions. First graders learned about places with different weather like the rain forest, desert, and tundra. Second graders traveled around the country looking at rock formations like Bryce Canyon and rock climbing El Capitan. Third graders toured Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty. Fourth graders went to some national parks to look at rock formations and compare different regions of the United States. What an experience! The Book Fair is coming soon to the Prairie View Library!
