Students in 4th grade enjoyed reading a book called Arbi and the Fire-Breathing Dragon by Iker Burguera. It is an augmented reality book and we used an app called "Arbi" to make the book come to life. You can see the pictures popping out of the page in this picture while students viewed it up close on the TV screen.
Staff members at Prairie View have been busy creating new artwork for our library. The pictures show some of our staff's favorite books and book characters. Two new pictures are revealed each week and the students are in suspense waiting to see what the next ones will be. Mr. Hansen's picture of The Snowy Day is on display already and Mrs. Krueger's will be revealed next week! Mrs. Moseley painted her favorite character, The Lorax. Check out these pictures and the other ones on display when you visit View!
Students in 3rd and 4th grade are learning about coding in the computer lab. During their library time, students were introduced to a MakeyMakey which allows you to turn ordinary objects into amazing projects. These students are experimenting with a banana piano. Check out how a MakeyMakey works at this site www.makeymakey.com/
Students in 1st grade used the iPad app called ChatterPix to create a digital product to share what they had learned. After researching in the library, the students created projects that they could use to teach others what they had learned from a nonfiction book.
The library hosted Darrin Crow, a local storyteller, for the first graders on Dec. 5. He told engaging stories that help enhance the students' learning about Schools Long Ago.
